Born and raised in México City (and recently transferred to NYC from Chicago), González is keen on living a remarkable double life: advertising and marketing by day, polymath rock’n’roll art projects by night. With excellent formal training in fine arts, journalism, art direction, film directing and cultural studies, he loves indulging his passionate childhood fascination with consumer culture working as a creative in the big brand industry (with a specialty in bilingual copywriting and with a robust list of global clients such as McDonald’s, Happy Meal, Coca-Cola, P&G, Dunkin’ Donuts and Miller Coors). Since he cannot help himself geeking out over stuff, he also uses his brain towards growing Latino market strategy, optimizing creative direction and innovative music supervision.
After emerging in the México City counterculture scene as a novel teen auteur, he became prominent cult artist Ed Paschke’s protégé and creative assistant in Chicago for 6 years (until Paschke’s passing). Needless to say, the impact of this learning experience goes beyond words in any language. It will forever be his encouraging Chicago School. He also has worked with international performing artists such as Café Tacvba, Los Jaivas, Zoé, Juana Molina, John McEntire, Nortec Collective, Titán, Silverio, José González, Jorge Drexler, Mexican Institute of Sound, Sidestepper, Nouvelle Vague, Ely Guerra, Antena, Denver, Moreno Veloso and even the legendary Little Jimmy Scott producing and promoting their live performances in the Windy City. He also worked on the launch of Chicago's very own Ruido Fest.
Currently he’s behind a handful of film projects here in the US and abroad, and working on creative direction for México City’s Épico music label. He’s also part of the emerging project Lumpen Radio, where he curates Latin American post punk and its sonic roots (ranging from psychedelic folk to synth-based compositions) in his monthly DJ residency.
By day, he goes by González (either Gabriel, Gabi, Gabo or Gonzo). By night, he goes by Feijóo, his mother’s family name. González is for business, Feijóo is for art. It's the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing.
